TK-Safe electronic patient records

For greater transparency and user-friendliness in healthcare

Client

Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) is the largest statutory health insurance company with 11.6 million insured persons and is considered a pioneer in the digitization of healthcare. It offers its insured persons innovative digital health services and apps to support prevention and health management. TK is implementing the TK-Safe electronic patient record project in collaboration with msg.

Challenge

The electronic patient record (ePA) plays a central role in the modernization of the German healthcare system by providing a secure platform for storing and retrieving health information.

With TK-Safe, Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) has developed a modern patient record that enables insured persons to manage their health data digitally and access it at any time. The challenge lies in continuously improving the user experience in order to achieve greater acceptance of the ePA among insured persons.

Goal

In order to meet the high requirements for security, user-friendliness, and functionality of TK-Safe, continuous effort is being put into the further development of the application. A particular focus is on iOS, Android, and Kotlin multiplatform development, which the msg teams are supporting.

Our healthcare experts analyze user needs with a particular focus on sophisticated UX design that enables an intuitive and user-friendly interface. The aim is to offer insured persons simple and efficient management of their health data.

Comprehensive testing ensures maximum reliability and data protection standards. This guarantees that the application complies with both strict legal requirements and user demands for security and performance.

In addition, msg experts provide advice on the implementation of the TI Messenger Service (TIM). This includes both the technical architecture and integration into Gematik's telematics infrastructure (TI). This enables seamless connection to existing healthcare networks, taking all legal requirements into account.

Solution and benefits

A particular advantage of the team is its comprehensive expertise in the field of statutory health insurance (GKV). Thanks to in-depth knowledge of the legal framework and specific requirements of the GKV and Gematik, tailor-made solutions are created that meet the complex requirements of the healthcare sector.

Our patient and health data are particularly sensitive and require protection. Not least for this reason, the healthcare system faces high regulatory requirements when it comes to digitization, as data security and data sovereignty are of the utmost priority. How these prerequisites affect the pace of digitization, what challenges need to be overcome, and what significance the electronic health record (ePA) holds for the entire health system are topics discussed by msg board member Rolf Kranz and Sandra Hoyer, head of the care management projects team at Techniker Krankenkasse.
